All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Castleford, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age limits may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid full driving licence, appropriate for the chosen category, is required. Additionally, valid identification and proof of current address must be presented. Payment information and a security deposit are also necessary, along with any further requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Castleford office. A deposit may be necessary to finalize your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
4. Car Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed at this stage. Please ensure the vehicle is returned in the same condition as received, accounting for ordinary wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as appropriate. The vehicle should also be returned with the fuel level matching that at collection; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please notify us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur additional charges. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals from Castleford include basic third-party insurance. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to minimize your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options closely. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless additional insurance is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, or off-road driving, as well as transporting hazardous materials. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is prohibited. Operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. Additionally, it should not be used beyond its intended purpose, exceed passenger or weight limits, or be driven outside of the agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Castleford will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent activities.
9. Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be addressed exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
10. Term Modifications
Castleford reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updates take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
